MARLIN are on the bite for Victorian anglers.
In what is believed to be a first, marlin have been caught from a trailerable boat in Victorian waters.
Experts believe it could lead to a boom in fishing tourism in Gippsland.
Local anglers Bob Hirs, Warren Horrigan and Joe Costos caught a 210kg blue marlin at Lakes Entrance on Sunday.
The trio had gone in pursuit of a striped marlin, rarely seen in Victorian waters, following recent catches in the area.
Joe said he had been fishing for 40 years and was shocked to reel in a blue marlin in Victoria.
